As you can probably tell from my research interests and Vita, one of my main interests is in the area of Virtual Worlds. While this is my primary focus right now (more specifically the role of VWs in language teaching) I also enjoy exploring those worlds, especially Second Life. On the main page of my website, you can click on the icon that say "My Second Life Home." If you have Second Life installed on your computer, that will provide you with a link to the CALICO (Computer Assisted Language Instruction Consortium) Headquarters in Second Life, which I manage. While there, in addition to doing research, I enjoy creating objects, ranging from classrooms to castles. The image to the below is one of my latest creations at that site.
The picture shows the ground floor of CALICO castle, which is a two story Edwardian castle retreat with meeting areas and an art gallery on the second floor. This build, and a number of others can all be accessed at the CALICO/EUROCALL Headquarters in SL at one of the holodecks on our land. If you have questions about the HQ or SL, don't hesitate to contact me in SL, where the name of my avatar (pictured above in the castle) is Randall Renoir. In addition
to a Virtual Life, I also do have
non-academic thing I enjoy as well in the real world! Follow the links
at the top of the page to see more about my favorite hobbies:
Reading (shocking for someone who teaches about reading and writing,
eh?) and travel. |
